This film show is being held to mark the launch of the Record Offices new film-viewing facility.

Trapped for years on obsolete media, 100 films from the Bristol Record Office film collection are now available for viewing by members of the public.

The films, originally transferred from 16mm reels onto u-matic tape in 1988, have now been digitised and can be seen free of charge in a special booth in the search room at Bristol Record Office.

Record Office volunteers John Penny and Clive Burlton have painstakingly digitised the films and compiled a 22,000-word catalogue to help visitors select and view the films. At the film show John and Clive will share some highlights and stories from the collection and talk about the project.

We are inviting you particularly as Chair of the Society. However, if any other members of the Society would like to attend, they are very welcome and they can book a place using the same e-mail address and telephone number as above. The show is free of charge.

We do hope you can join us.

Yours sincerely,

Talei Rounds
Archivist Team Leader
